Visit to CYCD by the Shadow Justice Secretary of State
On 4th May 2011, the Shadow Justice Secretary of State, Sadiq Khan, visited CYCD. He is regularly named in the Evening Standard’s annual poll of the 1000 most influential Londoners as one of the top 100, most influential London politicians.
He was welcomed by the Director of CYCD, Mr Mir Juma and the Manager of the Little Stars Pre-school, Jusnara Hoque. The children from the Pre-school presented him with a bouquet of flowers and he was given a tour of the CYCD buildings & projects by the Director.
Sadiq Khan was very impressed with all the projects at CYCD including the Pre-school, Barnfield College ESOL classes for women and the hard to reach young people’s project managed by Active Support. He met all the staff and users of the Centre and showed a great deal of interest in the work of CYCD.
Other guests who accompanied Sadiq Khan were Gavin Shuker MP, Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council and Councillor Tahir Khan, LBC’s lead member for Children and Learning.
